Our Mission
We and our 3288 full-time staff vigorously strive towards, achieving maximum productivity, service excellence and producing the most professional results, for our donors and those in need, purely for the sake and progress of Islam in Africa. We pursue this mission in Africa by providing relief in respect of food to the most starving and hungry, water to the most thirsty, shelter to the most destitute, medical care to the most sick, education to the most needy and moreover, establishing poverty relief developmental projects towards ultimate self sufficiency in communities, thereby, with the Help of Allah (SWT), restoring the dignity, respect and honour of our fellow Muslims in need throughout Africa.

Background to Al Furqaan Islamic Centre
For just over 15 years Africa Muslims Agency in South Africa have been consistently and diligently executing a specialised, measurable and qualitative dawah programmes amongst the local indigenous people at the door-step of the largest informal settlement (squatter camp) in the south of Johannesburg, that is, the Grasmere / Finetown area.

In addition to this consistent specialized dawah activity in the locality, the Africa Muslim Agency founded the Al Furqaan Islamic Centre at a house in Titanium Street, Grasmere/Finetown and after renovating and extending it, recruited 20 selected indigenous new Muslim Students from various parts of South Africa to stay at the Centre. These selected new Muslim students are being provided free boarding and lodging and an opportunity in the learning of Islam, i.r.o., Quraan, Hadith, Islamic History and other Islamic subjects at the Islamic Centre.

The Islamic Education syllabus and regular imthi-haan and assessment of the Islamic Studies sector as well as development of the students as responsible and disciplined Muslim Youth is being conducted by prominent Ulema in Gauteng. Simultaneously with the above daily curricular, specialised structured dawah programmes and activities was being conducted for the past 15 years, by our full time workers that are active in the squatter camp - informal settlement area. Daily classes are being conducted for adult new Muslims in various Islamic subjects and basic skill training lessons are being rendered.

This continuous positive growth amongst our students at the  Al Furqaan Islamic Centre and the very encouraging response experienced by our consistent and structured dawah activities amongst the local
people as experienced by the efforts of our dai'a have resulted in the very pos¬itive response from various donors for the Africa Muslims Agency.

Donors support enabled us to construct and build a new and much bigger Al Furqaan Islamic Centre comprising of a Masjid, Orphanage, school and a Vocational Skills Training Centre in the informal settlement - squatter camp area of Grasmere / Finetown. This support has also enabled us to establish the AFIC Bakery, an empowerment project  that  has been responsible for the employment of 6 previously unemployed  people and the wholesale distribution of over 1000 loaves of bread  DAILY.

Al Furqaan Islamic Centre:
A Milestone for Islam In South Africa

The Holy Quraan consistently encourages the believers to do good and forbid evil. It is these and numerous other Quraanic verses and injunctions and the noble example of our Holy Prophet (SAW) that imbued us with the determination and spirit to consistently and silently pursue our vision and reap, with Allah (SWT) help, the flowers and fruits of the seeds we had planted several years ago, and watered consis¬tently over that period with our efforts  so that it would bloom and blossom for the benefit of Islam in the area.

Thus, despite a host of obstacles and impedi¬ments we experienced over the years, Alhamdulillah, by the Grace and Mercy and Plan of Allah (SWT) and Allah (SWT) choicest Blessings upon our donors, it has become possi¬ble for the Africa Muslims Agency to construct the new Al Furqaan Masjid, Orphanage, Educational and vocational Islamic Training Centre in Grasmere / Finetown.

The Project, Alhaamdulillah, now completed, comprises of:

  • The first fully fledged Jumma Masjid in the informal settlement - squatter camp area of Finetown / Grasmere which will greatly benefit the new emerging Muslim Community in the area.
  • An Orphanage to accomodate 150 selected new Muslims Orphans who will be given every opportunity and support to pursue their studies in whatever Islamically beneficial capacity they aspire toward and ultimately to graduate as productive members of the Muslim Community as a whole.
  • A school that will service the needs of the Orphans and the local indigenous population in respect of adult literacy classes and general education curricular.
  • A Vocational Skills Training Centre that will enable the local new Muslim and non-Muslim unemployed adult males and females to be trained and empowered to be self - employed and / or employable in the skills that they attain at the centre.
  • AFIC Bakery, an empowerment  project  that  has been responsible for the employment of 6 previously unemployed  people and the wholesale distribution of over 1000 loaves of bread  DAILY.
  • An agricultural project, that has assisted the local community in learning the art of  agriculture together with the know how of managing a small business.
  • An Islamic youth Tarbiyyah program.
