BACKGROUND
Somalia is experiencing its worst drought in 40 years. In 2023, the country experienced its 5th consecutive failed rain season, pushing more than half the population into a state of crisis, as the famine spreads

Climate change in the region has led to drought in Somalia, which has severely impacted crop production and livestock farming. Reports state that over 43 000 people died during 2022 as a direct result of the drought, and many more face severe malnutrition. Children under the age of 5 suffer the most, and are most vulnerable to starvation.

As disease spreads in the population, the death toll is expected to rise.  Those who have the means are fleeing the country to find food, while thousands more are internally displaced, often walking hundreds of kilometres in search of food.

Your donation towards food can save the lives of families in Somalia.  Urgent help is needed to assist in one of the worst humanitarian crises currently facing our world.
