Empowering Communities through a holistic Adha programme

As the season of Adha comes upon us, we are grateful to once more have the opportunity to fulfill the rites of sacrifice and witness the blessed days of Hajj.  In every dua and every act of worship, we remember the people of Gaza.

As we contemplate the story of Adha, we reflect upon Ibrahim (AS), the epitome of submission. He answered the divine call to sacrifice his son. His unwavering commitment became the cornerstone of a tradition that echoes through the ages.

This year, as Ramadaan ended, we knew that our journey of sharing mercy was not at an end.  That as we learn from the story of Allah SWT’s mercy on Ibrahim and Ismail (AS), it is incumbent on us to share mercy wherever we can.

And so we invite you to sponsor your Qurbani with AMA this Adha season, knowing that your sacrifice will bring the mercy of food, empowerment and joy to communities across the world.

This year, AMA will sponsor Qurbani in South Africa, Africa (Malawi, Mozambique, Mali, Uganda, Somalia, Lesotho), Afghanistan, Palestinian Refugees (in Lebanon), Syria, Yemen and Sri Lanka, places with some of the neediest communities in the world.

AMA’s Qurbani programme is designed to bring the true essence of Adha to the communities within which we work.

We go beyond the mere distribution of meat…AMA provides training to local farmers and purchases livestock from them to empower local communities and provide them with a sustainable income even beyond the days of Eid.

In Africa, Imams travel between villages, teaching the rites of Hajj and Udhiyyah to communities gathered at AMA masaajid.  Beneficiaries are educated on the Qurbani process and participate in the slaughtering to inculcate the Sunnah of Nabi Ibrahim (AS).

In Afghanistan, animals are brought to the AMA office premises where families can participate in and observe the days of Eid, and in countries like Lebanon and Syria, slaughterhouses are carefully selected and booked for AMA’s Qurbani to be performed in accordance with all Islamic requirements on the days of Eid.

Families, widows, orphans and those most in need receive meat parcels and Eid celebrations are held in various countries, allowing communities to fully experience the spirit of the day of Eid-ul-Adha.

Without a sponsored qurbani, much of the Ummah would never experience this important rite of Islam or enjoy a community Eid.

This Adha, share your mercy, donate your Qurbani with AMA.
