AidEx 2024: Sharing global best practice in the humanitarian sector

Part of AMA’s commitment to excellence in all that we do includes staying up to date with the latest advancements in the humanitarian field, to ensure that the services we provide are of the highest quality.
This year, in October 2024, AMA exhibited at AidEx Geneva, the world’s leading humanitarian aid and disaster relief event, and it was an inspirational experience.
AMA CEO, Imraan Choonara, discussed the importance of such platforms: “AidEx provides a space in which to engage with the latest innovations, discuss the way forward, meet industry partners, network and take a leap forward in the way you think and operate…”
The exhibition attracts the greatest leaders in the humanitarian sector and brings together global knowledge and best practice to allow organisations such as AMA to learn and share.
From the latest innovations in refugee tents, sleeping kits, medical vehicles and water provision, exhibitors present the options to improve the level of aid that can be provided in disaster response or general development projects.
In addition, Aidex hosts a conference where humanitarian leaders can share and discuss challenges facing the sector, advancements such as AI and its role in developing the aid agenda, and propose solutions and best practice to improve the quality of aid provided whilst maintaining human dignity.
The AMA exhibition, titled “A World Without Water”, used the concept of a dynamic art gallery showing the transition between worlds with and without water. The stand attracted a great deal of interest in AMA’s work in providing water in Africa and other countries.
“The quality and level of engagement by industry leaders from around the world at AidEx, compared to many other humanitarian expos, stands out for me”, shared Choonara. “In addition, AidEx was a chance for AMA to bring our work in Africa to a global platform. Its our responsibility to share the voices of those we serve with the world in the best way that we can. So it’s important for African-led organisations to show the world that we do have the capacity to uplift within our own continent, and also to take our expertise to other continents.”
AMA is truly grateful to have exhibited at AidEx, and looks forward to a journey of new partnerships with the many people and organisations interested in the vision of uplifting communities in Africa.
The AMA vision is to bring empowerment from the tip of Africa to the rest of the world, and AidEx provided the platform in which the organisation could both learn and teach – the lifelong goal of any entity wishing to thrive and leave a lasting legacy.
